CAT is developed as a Java ™ Enterprise Edition (JEE) application. The Google ™ Web Toolkit was used to present a comprehensive and intuitive web GUI.
CAT is working with the standard Connections administration components:
XML files for connections configuration
MBeans for administrative operations
REST API for data access
Security
The access to CAT is secured by the standard WebSphere access model. These allow only authorized users to work with the application.
CAT access roles distinguish the access between single Connections modules as well as types of operations:
Change of configuration parameters
Management of objects (activities, communities, etc.)
Deletion of objects
CAT enables you to administrate Connections without administrative rights on the WebSphere level. All operations take place under the identity of a defined RunAs user.
Installation
The CAT application can be set up within minutes on any server of your IBM Connections environment. Once installed, CAT can be accessed from any browser.
System Requirements for Connections Administration Toolkit
The lightweight CAT application is simply installed on your WebSphere Application Server using the installation wizard for WebSphere enterprise applications provided by IBM’s Integrated Solutions Console.
CAT itself needs less than 50 MB disk space on your server. It works with IBM Connections Version 3.0.
